					Thanks very much, sirs.
Hah- I thought the black shirt might come up... in fact, I counted on it! But wearing a black shirt is very much "me", and while I never try to go out of my way to be different, I always try to go out of my way to be myself. As I think we all should.

@ Kyle: I do have a pair of red hose, but they seem a tad bright to my eye (though they would, come to think of it, be quite appropriate for Easter). Alas, though I've been looking forward to a pair of claret hose for a while, I have not sprung for them yet; I agree that they would make a most excelent addition to this outfit, though. Perhaps next year!

Well said, Father. And on that note, before I forget, do you see the stingray skin sporran I'm wearing? I've always thought that stingray would look SMASHING on a priest.

Oh I know FB. Its a historical thing for me, I am just old enough to remember WW2 and I certainly remember those that survived it. Black(and brown) shirts have bad, very bad, connotations that go with that grim time and I can't help it and even to this day, they just turn my mind to very negative thoughts.

You look good Ryan and definitely not "too" traditional. This strikes me as mostly traditional with a bit of both contemporary and historical flair. The sporran appears historically inspired, the hose, jacket, and waistcoat are all more traditional, and the black shirt with solid grey tie is more contemporary. I'm thinking that might also be a more recent tartan?

Does it look ok, first off?

How "traditional" does it strike you? "Contemporary"?

I've never been Confirmed but that sounds like a rather special occasion. I know how much you like the black shirt, though if it were me I would go for a white one. It would be more formal and more traditional.

For yourself Jock, as well as for others with a similar history, I can see how black shirts have very bad connotations and arguably the same goes for solid brown shirts. I respect where you are coming from as a military veteran and can certainly appreciate it as a veteran (of a very different war) myself.

Even so, I think I'll strive on with the current shirt choice; perhaps my jovial disposition will help to garner more positive associations with the color. We can only hope.

You've a very good eye, sir- That tartan is my own humble fancy, and is only about four or five years old.

LOL- Ironically, one of the reasons I chose the black shirt was to tone down the level of formality! I'll be entering the Catholic church tomorrow, and in my experience, many Catholics tend to air on the more casual side, at Mass. Indeed, I know that many in attendance tomorrow will be doing just that.

So yes, it was a calculated move on my part. :ninja:
