Yes, I agree!

I think you should match your mode to the location rather than the movie.

I know that GTT signed on as a consultant, so if he is hosting the event at his digs (which reek of rich mahogany and many leather-bound books)...

My gut tells me that since you were requested to bring weight, stones caber ect.... you need to dress is something that will at least allow you to throw. Would a great kilt work?
As for fitting in at GTT's place you could re-wardrobe your upper after throwing if that fits the situation.
But alas....as always Jamie has the ever so proper answer. Just like a wedding.

GTT? I feel as though I should know who/what this is, but sadly, I do not.

I'm making a kilt for someone at Pixar who is also going to the party. I am so excited I can't even speak! It's going to be Modern Young with the spectacular flash in the pleats.

Now that I think about it, it's not clear to me that this is the same event that Alan H is going to. Alan - is it the Pixar wrap party that you're going to (you lucky dog)?

I don't actually know!
At the Ardenwood Tartan Day Games, the guy who's in charge of the local Shinty league walked up to me and said that the Pixar publicity people at the Games wanted to know if there could be some shinty players at this big bash, and also if we could get some Highland Athletes and some gear. However, the hours for the event are late-late afternoon through the evening, so I don't think they actually want us to throw, though I don't know that for sure. All I know is that the event is in Calistoga on June 9th.

Toms Place was, quite a few years ago, a web forum that started out being about kilts. However, it was slowly overtaken by a community of people who liked to cross-dress. Basically, guys who like to wear skirts. The conversation got away from kilts and onto skirts, delicate underwear, perfume and other not-very-masculine topics.
I added the "Gentlemen" and "Tweed" during a very large ruckus that I created, some months ago about a drift in focus that I felt I was observing, generally, at X Marks. It just so-happened to co-occur with a rash of threads involved with "how to define a gentleman" and so on.
I'd like to be clear that *I* felt that I saw this drift. Others may not agree. I was concerned that the more disreputable among us....like me, who never dress in tweed, don't wear cologne but rather smell of sweat and grass stains (or whatever) and spend more time doing dirty and roughshod activities, and have value systems aligned more in that direction, might lose their voice and place here at X Marks. Thus, the ruckus.
In a nutshell, that's where GTT came from.
And now, back to what I should wear to PIXAR, supplied with a large dose of tongue-in-cheek.

Actually Alan - thanks! I had a clear sense that I didn't have a clear sense about what was happening then. I would have been more clearly on your side on that one had I understood the context.
