Well it's going to be some party, cause this will be probably the first time us MacLarens will be fighting with the MacGregors instead of against them

Ah, the beer! Good thinking, Jock. Care to join us, Rathdown? Bring along your Buchanans, but you may have to hire your own coaches; I think the ones from the "central" Highlands are quite full and I suspect there's an eastern contingent that has already hired all the availability from Nairn to Blairgowrie. It will be a parched journey needing great attention at the end.

Now on this campaign------- culminating with the successful siege of Thetford---------we Highlanders need to learn the lessons of the past and stop squabbling amongst ourselves------------we might then win!

Totally agree with you there Jock, get everyone together, all drinking from the same cup and give the opposition a right royal thumping

I wonder if we couldn't collect some Turnbulls, Kerrs, Scotts, Elliots, Nixons, Johnstones, Armstrongs, Pringles, Maxwells and all when we near the borders (just to keep this thread on track). And perhaps this time stop at the Tweed and let the beer come north to us in abject apology for misplacing our Highland line.

What a good idea Thistledown, it would be good to see such a group of really thirsty lads sitting on the banks of the Tweed awaiting a bevy or two of amber fluid to be delivered

Hummm not so sure about that lot, Rex, I mean, just look at all that squabbling that they got up to, shifty bunch most of 'em, take the fillings out of your teeth soon as look at you. Mind you your plan does have merit, but when I sleep(we will have to wait a time as the driver of the beer lorry is not too hot on maps) I shall have a thick wall between me and them!

It may be a good idea, Mike, but Jock's right about the history. Everyone talks about how confrontational we above the Highland line were, but that Borders lot changed sides all the time. Maybe we should gather in some clanless folk from the middle part, the Lothians, Stirling, Renfrew, Ayshire and places like that to balance our exhuberance with a little dourness. By the way, have your noticed that your man from Thetford is away hiding his sporan?

I always assumed that the line of demarcation was where the pipeline of whisky crossed Scotland, and that the reason highlanders and lowlanders glared at one another was because they were lined up facing the pipeline from either side, each trying to down more than those on the other side before it ran dry.

The beers are in, Southwold Bitter and Adnams Broadside. Did consider Abbot Ale as we are in 'Greene King Country', but it just isn't what it used to be.
So I am ready, any time you old men want to stop by and chat.
Regards
Chas
