    A question for episcopalscot......

    Hello Todd...

How goes the policing business these days? After you started posting here, I remembered the SCTP website and went back for a visit expecting to see some new offenders posted. Is this organization still active? Are the non tartan and modern kilts also a target? What are the qualifications to join?

For those that might not believe it, here's a couple of links to SCTP pages...

BTW, I see that there is a constabulary in Australia so Graham could join the fun as well. Ooohh, I guess the folks here at Xmarks better be on their guard now that you've arrived! Perhaps we can even start our very own Xmarks rogues and offenders forum! I'll be in it for sure!

Doh! I keep forgetting about the black belt before 5:00 thing!

    Tartan Polis...

Okay, let's set the whole thing straight right here, right now: it is all one big bluidy joke! We are not serious by any means in enforcing the "rules" of Scottish dress. I wouldn't dare try, because I committed several "violations" myself in my early days of wearing the kilt.

Basically, we (several of us in our local Celtic Society) started the thing because a fellow showed up at our Burns Nicht in "non-traditional" garb to "pi** off the tartan police", and ironically, there was no polis there to "pi** off!" So, over a couple of pints (a very dangerous place!), we said, "why not start one?" -- Kind of like the university students in Poland that started the "Beer Lovers Party" which became a somewhat serious political organisation -- and it just grew from there. If you read the "history", we've taken ourselves far too seriously!

But, on that same vein, one time, a local fellow called one of our new members on a "minor" kilt infraction -- and promptly pulled out a "Tartan Police" I.D. card -- and the new member said, "Isn't that the organisation that Todd started?" It shut him up PDQ.

So, bottom line: we're not recruiting, we're just what comes of too much time and too many pints!

    Please don't "hate e-mail" me!

There are no such things as too much free time or too many pints.

    Beer Lover's Party..

For those who want to know more about this great Polish experiment in Democracy, here is something that I found on google:

Registered as a political party in December 1990, the Polish Beer-Lovers' Party (Polska Partia Przyjaciól Piwa--PPPP) may have started as a prank. But with time, its members developed a serious platform, for which the humorous stated goals of the party--lively political discussion in pubs serving excellent beer--were a symbol of freedom of association and expression, intellectual tolerance, and a higher standard of living.
Sounds like this forum, eh? Matter of fact, it's time for a Tennants! 8)

    For Paddy...

I'll have one for you, since you are engaged in gainful employment and cannot enjoy a delicious barley-flavoured bevy!

    Cheers, lads!

Thank you, I was in trouble and taking deep, cleansing breaths... in through the nose... out through the mouth.... and you go and say something like, "delicious barley-flavoured bevy."

    Back to square one.

But, seriously, enjoy lads... I'll raise one to ya at 11.00 EST.

    Cheers,

    Tobie
