    Fabric Supplier Inquiry

Got a quick question for the ramble... Has anyone have experience with purchasing fabric from The Scottish Weaver? Looking to purchase some yardage of the Nova Scotia tartan in wool. Their prices seem extremely reasonable and the stated weight sounds very applicable. Just curious about them before I pull the trigger.

Any information would be great. Or, if anyone knows a better source for the Nova Scotia tartan in wool.

    Thanks.

The Scottish Weaver is an importer of tartan cloth and tartan goods from several different woolen mills. They do wholesale as well as retail. I have worked with them in their wholesale capacity for many years with no complaints.

They obtain their tartan cloth from Ingles Buchan and House of Edgar in Scotland, the Welsh Tartan Centre in Wales, and Fraser &me Kirkbright in Canada.

Strathmore Mills also makes the Nova Scotia tartan. I have been considering a kilt in that tartan myself as my maternal grandparents came from Nova Scotia. It is a very nice looking tartan I think.

    Sailortats -

My father was born there, thus the connection. His paternal side is from County Cork in Ireland. I have a Nova Scotia wool scarf that was given to my Dad years ago and agree - it's a great looking tartan. I'll take a look at Strathmore Mills too - thanks!

There prices are amazing - how do they do that? Nice to hear some good feedback.

I just had a quick look to compare prices between The Scottish Weaver and Fraser&Kirkbright. You can save a dollar or two ordering from F&K and you get the fabric in metres not yards. The fabric is the same, merino wool at 12 oz.
