Ah, well now - if the showers are cold enough, you won't be thinking of anything else!

    Frank,

You're really a beginner to all this. Wait until you order a bespoke kilt from one of the top kiltmakers. Some of these people, because they turn out such top notch articles, have very long waiting lists (over 9 months in some cases). Can you imagine?

Understand BCAC's point...but don't wanna scare you off.

Those 9 month waits are usually for part time kiltmakers.

I'm guessing you'd find waits of less than three months for full time kiltmakers like Steve at Freedom Kilts, Rocky at USA Kilts, and my kiltmaker who is a full time kiltmaker as well. And, from my kiltmaker, that's for a hand sewn wool kilt - a "tank."

I've often wondered what this "tank" stuff was about. Is it just a 16 oz 8-9 yard kilt? That's what us folks up north need for those cold winter days!

15-16oz or heavier, 8 yards, handsewn will get you a tank

Here is the definition from X Marks Specific Acronyms & Kilt terms.
A 'TANK' is defined as an eight-yard, wool, hand-sewn, traditional kilt. ie., "It's built like a tank." (coined by Jimmy Carbomb c.2005)
