Yes, they are real, they are from Brewdog in Fraserburgh. Brewdog have also opened a pub opposite the Kelvingrove in Glasgow where I work, so I guess they are expanding their empire doon to the Central Belt too.

When I think strong beer, I'm thinking 8 - 9 % ABV. Tactical Nuclear Penguin is 32% ABV and Sink the Bismarck weighs in at 42% ABV! You are correct about sipping it.

They were criticised for putting out "Sink The Bismark" because of it's high alcohol content so to stick it to their critics they produced a 1.1% ABV brew called "Nanny State."

My absolute favourite "treat" scottish beer is Innis and Gunn. The beer is aged in oak casks that have previously held scotch or whisky. It is a strong beer and not to everyone's taste. I see they now have a Canadian cask version.

Just had some of this tonight at a nearby pub specializing in craft beers and imports. Good stuff! I must get my hands on more....

Innis & Gunn beers are wonderful ... I've had these ones

    original
    blond
    IPA
    Canada day
    Highland cask

(these last two came in a box and were really too pricey)

Such wonderful beers to appreciate the many tastes within.

    -----------------------

Regarding the original list of Brewdog beers, I've had the hardcore IPA which was great. I can find some of these in a local specialty wine place .... they have a couple that have outlandish prices of over $100 for a small bottle so I'll stay away from handling any bottles of tactical nuclear penguins lest I drop it!

Isn't McEwan's Scotch ale also from Edinburgh? They took that out of the Nova Scotia Liquor Commision outlets.
