    Rhino,

Going formal with a tartan kilt isn't compulsary. I don't even posess anything formal to wear with my tartan kilt, as like you, I am not keen on the formal look. But then, as I wear my kilt when out hill walking, I would look pretty silly in full Highland regalia on the moors or in the mountains. I may be eccentric, but I am not that mad.

David, I agree it's an expensive habit, but the last clothing habit I had was worse, scubadiving, where a wetsuit would cost $600 and a Drysuit over $1000.

    Kilts are cheaper!

Rhino, between you and Rocky, you'll have me convinced.

Got the Stewart Saturday. I was expecting it Thursday and was thinking the mailman tired it out for a while!

We were out Saturday running the 'to do's' and came back to the house to drop off stuff and then go get lunch. I checked the mail and there it was. I ripped the box open and pulled out the latest addition. I told my wife that it would be a few because I wanted to wear it to lunch. Nothing like a new kilt!

Will post PIC's later this week.

Thanks again Rocky and Kelly. It looks Great!

Congrats on the new kilt, I love the Stewart Hunting, that, and the Gunn Modern must be the best tartans I've seen.

Being a Johnson and a sept of the Gunn I had to go for that as soon as Rocky got the tartan in. The Hunting Stewart is also one of the 2 others that I REALLY wanted to get...the Duncan effect.

I broke down this last week and ordered the Black Stewart. I have a SportsKilt Black Stewart and like it but it is a 4 yard and tend to not hang well. If Rocky keeps this up I think the little Scottish Terrors will have a new bunk mate!

    Stewart Hunting...

The Stewart Hunting is indeed a great tartan, associated with a great regiment, the 1st Regiment of Foot, the Royal Scots ("Pontious Pilate's Bodyguard" is their nickname) -- they are still in Iraq at present, I believe.

As far as "dress" or "formal" goes, it is, IMHO, a great investment, because you never have to rent a tuxedo or formal wear, and consequently, risk being dressed in a powder-blue tux!

Besides -- women love a man who can dress for any occasion and look good -- why do you think Cary Grant got all of the women?

    Cheers!

    T.
