Not Wishing to Kill a Cat
Hell-o all,
I am just curious as to how long you have been donning the Kilt?
I am aware that many have been doing it for years and some are just beginning.
As for me, I found the comfort and pride about 10 years ago with some regularity. The last 8 have been continuous.

My first memory is from 1964, when I was 4, I think, at Ferryhill North Church Sunday School, Aberdeen, when Peter Davidson was the minister.
There was some sort of Gordon Highlanders connection. It was to leave a lasting impression!

1997, I donned a Sportkilt to drop my cycling shorts after club rides to go to the local pub. Inspired by a fellow at church who wore a kilt causally to up kilt wear to a tank of my family tartan.
All my cats have been unharmed by their curiosity, BTW!

I think as it is now 2013, I can legitimately claim 70 years.

My parents, mainly at the request of my grandparents, had me in the kilt for special occasions and family functions beginning at age 6. I began wearing Highland dress on a consistent basis when I was 14. I am 31 years old presently.

Since 1990.
At the age of 39, I was co-erced by my then employers to wear a kilt as we did quite a lot of hosting of overseas visitors. I bought a well worn Black Watch kilt cheaply from a thrift shop. Much to my surprise I found the kilt very comfortable, though it was not a good fit so I donated it back to the thrift shop and ordered my first bespoke kilt. Now I own more kilts than trousers!!

I wore a homemade kilt to a New Year's Eve party 2005/2006, but have only been wearing a proper kilt for 3 or 4 months.

Glen, I first wore the kilt in 1971 as a sixteen year old Army Reservist. I bought my first kilt in my clan tartan a couple of years later. That makes 42 years.
