    Whereabouts in Queensland are you located? I did 15 years up north (North Queensland and Brisbane) prior to returning to the family fold down here. At least in winter you'll get some fine kilt-wearing weather, I still miss those clear winters days!

    We're settled (for now) in Greenbank, about 41 Km (25 miles) south of Brisbane, a designated drought area (7 months last winter and spring, then half a year's annual rainfall in February!).

    The kilts are great for all seasons, cool in Summer and warm in Winter but I try not to get the heavy military kilt wet - takes forever to dry!

    But don't you get all four seasons in one day down in Melbourne?

    Wonderful story! Welcome from the English West Midlands. I had a very enjoyable holiday in Brisbane last year. Atrocious weather (!) - in the middle of the floods - but a great place nevertheless.
