How a kilt is made / Why does a kilt cost so much?

Ever wonder how we make our Premier 8 yard kilts? Ever wonder why some kilts are $500 + when others are under $100? We took photos during the construction process of an 8 yarder and "pull back the curtain" so to speak (sorry for the pun) on our blog:

That is the Stirling tartan. It's one of our private designs that we do in PV as well as wool (and it's our top rental kilt design).

Great photo series, and it shows why a traditionally made kilt is worth every penny of the additional cost. Your blog and Barb's book should be a must-read for anyone on the fence between a tank and a lesser kilt (although I still love my 5-yarders). Thanks for the inside look.

Tried to view the blog but my computer issued a warning that the site is a known malware "distributor"! Anyone else get this warning? From the comments it seems as though the blog was pretty good.

There is another thread in this sub-section of the forum about this problem.
I'm sure it will be sorted out soon(ish).
