You trend setter Sandy!
I wonder how many houndstooth kilt jackets will be on show here within the next 2 years?

We're just crazy kids... I wonder if I can have a shell suit made up in houndstooth?

Just because of this threard it got me to thinking about a houndstooth jacket and waist coat even though I thought it might be too much with my kilt (I thought). So what did I do? I purchased one yesterday!!! Pics to follow when it arrives

Well done!!! What "regular" one do you mean? One of the off the peg day jackets in Lovat blue, Lovat green, or charcoal? I used to own all three, but recently sold them in favour of patterned day jackets in check/windowpane tweeds.
Good choice of going with Kinloch Anderson. Most of my Highland attire comes from them, yet beware, you may get slammed with customs fees. I did on practically everything I ordered from them. One of my KA tweed jackets was stuck in customs at JFK Airport in New York City for a week or two, disaster! They wouldn't release until I paid the customs fees. Hopefully, this does not happen to you, but again, be prepared to pay an additional amount on top of what you already paid Kinloch.
Cheers,

Cheers,
I'm curious, Kyle. Was it an actual "Customs" fee (ie tariff imposed by the government) or was it a "Brokerage" fee (FedEx and UPS act as their own customs brokers and charge the end user for that 'service', usually to the tune of ~$50), or did you get hit with both?

Scott,
It was both. The actual customs fees, since the goods being imported were over a certain monetary amount, and the service charge from the carrier (in the particular case described above, the carrier was DHL). I do recall studying the customs declaration form(s) and DHL carrier form(s) in great detail once the packaged was finally delivered. It totaled around $118.00 US. This occurred for all three day jackets, as well as for my evening doublets, but for some reason, my kilts slipped through without a delay or without me having to pay extra. And of course for smaller, less expensive items, there was no problem whatsoever. This all transpired between 2006-2010. I am not sure if Kinloch Anderson still uses DHL or another carrier once an item arrives in the US. All of the smaller items arrived via Royal Mail Small Packets.
Cheers,

No, I actually went with another tweed that was on my wish list. I decided to save the black and white houndstooth for a later date.
