Where to buy boys kilts in the UK?
Our youngest has outgrown his kilt so I went to Heritage of Scotland to get a replacement, but it almost looks as if they’re dropping the kids range as they have very few kilts available in anything other than 0-1yrs and on asking when they’ll have stock of the Scottish National, they said they were discontinuing it.
I don’t want to spend a fortune as he’s growing, and don’t have the time to make one, so can anyone recommend a cheap supplier?

Hi Martin,
Hopefully I can help out with a bit of inside information, I work for buyakilt.com.
The boys budget kilts are getting really hard to come by. We are also out of stock in the Heritage of Scotland and it doesn't look like they'll be back in for a while. Scottish National does indeed seem to be discontinued (sorry can't confirm for sure).
What size is it you're looking for? I'm happy to check in our warehouse and let you know what we have or when they'll be available.

Hi Rachel,
I've managed to track down a Royal Stewart at The Scotland Kilt Co (the last one available), but he still wants a Scottish National. He's six but needs a size 7-8 yrs - think he's gonna be a strapping wee lad.
We were wondering if some of the companies are stopping the single items as there seem to be a lot of outfits available in all sizes, so wondered if this was a marketing ploy for Xmas.

Maybe if you can source the material, one of the kiltmakers here would be happy to make a kilt for your son? Perhaps they could source the Scottish National for you?

Hi Martin,
Glad you were able to find a kilt to fit. If you ever do need a wool kilt made up, we can help with this as well. buyakilt.com/boys-custom-made-kilt. All the best for now, Rachel

Hi Rachel,
Thanks. As the boys keep growing I may have to buy more for them.
WillowEstate,
I'm going to try and learn how to use my wife's sewing machine and have a crack at making a kilt for our eldest, starting with a MacLeod, just to see if I can do it. Never got on with electrics, but its about time I learnt...

A bit late on this, but whilst answering a question on another thread about MacGreggor & MacDuff, Kilt makers & kilt hire of Glasgow, I noticed on their internet page that boys kilts were made and hired out. Perhaps this may be usefull for you in the future?

Thanks Jock,
I'll take a look just in case the machine beats me.
