Greetings all,
As many of you may know I am a big advocate for public transportation (what better way to talk about kilts). So today I was waiting for the Light Rail to go downtown for a business meeting this afternoon. I was wearing a white shirt, red tie (ugh!), and my black Utilikilt. Since it was a business meeting I also had a brief case with me. When this lad about 20 came up also wearing a black Utilikilt and a flowered shirt, also waiting for the Light Rail. I mentioned to him that I liked his kilt, he looked at me and said "do you want to make something of it?" I just smiled and walked away. I guess he was scared of my tie

HAHA i bet he is so tired of people questioning him about it he did not notice yours.
I know it is rude but somethimes i get that way too, not with kilts yet so much but with my tattoos..... i swear i get asked "did that hurt" every day 10 times. sometimes i just don't even answer at all, other times i have taken to answering, no not at all what would make you think a tattoo would hurt.

That's a shame Glen, you meet another kilt wearer and he has an attitude!
He should lighten up!

I appears that the fellow may have had some bad reactions to his kilt. Or maybe he intrepreted the reaction to his attitude as a reaction to his kilt. Or maybe is just an a*****e.
Nice tie Glen. Must say that I will wear the suit to work, but not the tie.

It might have been a reaction that a guy at "your age" could possibly wear somthing that he thought was cutting edge and happening. He thought he was unique.
Or as Casey said a ""##444¤66** or somthing
All the best. Keep shocking 'um...David

That's funny! I would think that maybe it was one of his first public outings, and he was so prepared for confrontation, and the compliment threw him for a loop. I would suspect that he felt like a tool later in the day for that one.

That would be my guess as well. He probably would have reacted that way no matter what was said. I certainly would have expected something better from a "kilted coleague".

I think Freelander might be right, but (there always is a but) are non traditional kilts sold with a deliberate slant towards 'men with attitude' as a part of the advertising. As a result do young wearers in particular think that wearing one requires hard men attitude or worse still does it bring out that attidude in other wise 'normal' guys. Hence the remarks

That's a good point Daneel. I find some who exclusively wear Utilikilts to be less interested in "kilt comeraderie" than those who also wear tartan kilts.

He did express a rather haughty attitude, which left others a little bit taken back also when they heard his remark, you could see it in their faces.
