I made sure I asked the bride for our upcoming nuptuals in October 2014. She said, "Yes!" She apparenty likes my tartan.

If invited I expect to be known , and therefor fair to ask , wear a suit only when asked or for anglo funerals , is that ok ?

I think one factor to be taken from this thread is if you are a frequent kilt wearer of not and if the bride knows you as such. In my case, many people I know, even if they are aware that I own kilts, have never seen me in them. One friend when he sees me in jeans (or any other trousers) always thanks me for wearing pants. So for me, I would ask if it was someplace that I cared not to offend. On my recent cruise, I wore my kilt on formal night because it was within keeping the dress code (which is not enforced) and because I really will be unlikely to see anyone there again.

I attended a wedding not too long ago, I was ordered by the bride to wear my kilt. Her daughters were quite pleased too.
