    advice needed quickly

I need some advice about the pictured outfit. I have been given special dispensation to wear a kilt to work tomorrow as I am going to a free whisky tasting right from work. I have to wear the shirt in the pic as I must wear an identifying patch while working in the park.
Does this shirt look OK with the kilt?
It would never be my first choice but as I say I have to wear it. It is required. The shirt is blue and white stripes if it isn't clear in the pic.
If the answer to my question is no, it looks bad, I will, albeit reluctantly, wear the complete park uniform. Thanks for any and all adviceClick image for larger version.

    Looks fine to me.
Studies have shown that women who gain a few pounds live longer than men who mention it.

Looks good to me. Is that the Nova Scotia tartan?

I wouldn't normally wear a striped shirt with a tartan kilt but in this case, as it's part of a uniform, I say go for it. That's a nice looking Nova Scotia tartan kilt from keltoi. If you ever need to make room in your closet, let me know.

I stole this from a post by ctbuchanan which sums things up nicely:

"The Highland dress is essentially a ‘free' dress - that is to say, a man's taste and circumstances must alone be permitted to decide when and where and how he should wear it... I presume to dictate to no man what he shall eat or drink or wherewithal he shall be clothed." .Hon. Stuart Ruaidri Erskine

... and I heartily agree (although I would endeavour to wear some solid-coloured hose..)

I agree with you, not my first choice, but it will work.
You could always bring another shirt, and change into it before leaving work (shouldn't take more than a minute or two.)
Whichever way you decide to go, just remember the most important thing,....enjoy the tasting.

Wear it and if you have one add a waistcoat so the stripes are less seen. The patch seems to be on the sleeve which would work with a waistcoat. Add a smart tie and you will look great.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. As you could tell I am not sold on this combination. Like Nathan says, a striped shirt with tartan isn't the best of combos. Also as Nathan says, yes, that is the Nova Scotia tartan. (and why does my spell checker keep telling me that I am spelling "Scotia" incorrectly?)

We don't often see stripes with tartan - maybe we should. I would wear it.
