Eve is STILL a competitive piper by my understanding...and a rather good one at that.
But, since the point of making this kilt related is out there... I have heard that curlers have been known to wear kilts when in competition. Any truth to that?
(Honestly, I did hear that, but I just wanted to link curling to kilts )

Mrs.Crash noticed a spectator in the crowd during the men's gold medal match fussing with his kilt. Looked like he had some how hooked his sleeve button on his kilt pin. funny.
I'm just trying to be the person my dog thinks I am.

I am sorry I missed that. I have not caught as much of the Olympics as I would have liked.

Got back from Sochi yesterday. Traveled there and back by train from Helsinki. Interesting weather for a winter Olympics. Watched snowboarding in +10C soaking wet raining weather.
Pity I do not have an opportunity to see the ice hockey gold final (can - swe) today on site and pity that one of the finalists is not Finland. But Finland got the Bronze!
Even if it was an interesting experience to be there, you are better informed of the Games if you are home with TV and the Net.

1-0 Canada after the first period in Gold medal hockey, nail biting time! I have often comment on the strong influence of Scotland on Canada's history and character. It is even evident in sport. During these games the two sports Canadians are most passionate about both claim Scottish heritage. Of course curling came to us fully formed from there and hockey started as Shinty played on ice. In fact when I was a boy the kind of informal unrefereed hockey we played on ponds and rivers was always called Shinny. I am sure from the same roots.

Yes, there is.
We had a Canadian team from back east that always wore kilts curling. Heck, I did it once to try it though I wouldn't recommend it for guys. The gals get to wear leggings which help when sliding.

Classy gesture
So Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird and US Secretary of State John Kerry had a little bet going over Olympic hockey that involved beer. This is what Kerry is sending. Nicely done, with a nice nod to our spelling conventions.

I've also been fascinated with curling for some years and have enjoyed watching since it was introduced in the 1998 (?) Olympics. Our local curling club hosted an open house so I went and did a 1 hour introduction on the 16th and an actual class, including a 4-end game on the 17th. Had a great time and looking forward to doing it again tomorrow morning.
According to the US national curling website, kilts are accepted curling attire, but I think it will be quite a while until I try it. Lets just say I'm still learning to maintain my balance (forget dignity) on the ice.
Well Done! to Canada for their two Gold medals in curling, and to the Brits (Scots!) for their Silver and Bronze medals. I watched all their games, as well as those of the US. Even enjoyed seeing the Norwegians in their dazzle patterned pants.
