The construction looks to be a straight run of fabric - though as it must reach shoulder to ankle it is most likely pieced, sewn at the selvedges and then box pleated. The upper edge of the pleated fabric is then sewn onto the yoke - which looks to be pieced - seam centre back? - on the straight of the grain across the back and on the cross at the front.

I wonder what the measurement around the hem is. Can it be measured or is it a do not touch item?

I can certainly meaure it and have pictures of the inside etc. I'm away for a couple of days but will try and get the detail at the weekend.

Were someone to get a better picture of the back, I know how to take a pattern from that ( and from whom to ask for help!) and could make it up, perhaps in a PV.. In case someone were interested in actually wearing something of that nature!

Any update on the construction and measurements?

Photos are a help, but nothing beats actual size and method.
