new (to me) argyll jacket
Greetings friends. Yesterday morning (Oct. 26), I was the guest preacher at St. George's Presbyterian Church, London, ON, and took the opportunity to wear my new argyll jacket with braemar cuffs recently purchased on our favourite online auction site. I knew that I would probably be a little more formally dressed than I usually would be for worship, but also knew that my harshest critiques would come on this site, as I suspected that those kilted at the event would all be in PCs -- and indeed they were.

In my humble opinion, you were dressed just fine. Seems like overkill for a PC, unless it was a very special occasion. By the way, the cat looks fine as well.

I quite agree that the argyll jacket was perfectly appropriate for the event--nice looking jacket, by the way. Those wearing PCs were likely doing so because it's the only kilt jacket they own. During the many years I spent in Scottish/piping circles in and around London, Ontario, I encountered many kilt wearers whose only jacket was a PC. They bought their kilts to wear at Burns dinners, Masonic or Shrine events and other formal occasions where a PC would be appropriate. Few of them ever wore their kilt in other circumstances and felt no need of any jacket other than a PC even if they knew, which few of them did, that a PC is not appropriate for all occasions.

I thought it very handsome. I'd personally rather be overdressed for an occasion. Cat? Looked like a Scottie to me, but then, perhaps the distance from ON to Southern Calif changes the pixels in the picture? And I love cats, owning Dearheart Persians myself. But lovely kilted outfit, sir.

Aye, Bill. Things have been a little topsy-turvy of late, making planning for some things a little difficult. I had thought about seeing about doing lunch. I will make a point to get down your way soon, so that we can meet up.
