Kilt hose cuffs
Some time ago I saw advertised hose top cuffs. They were just the turn over part of the sock which you pulled on over your existing hose to give them a decorative top. Does any one know if they are still available and where I might find a pair? Thanks.
The Kilt is my delight !

I believe you may be able to get hose topper from 2 of our members, Sydnie7 and Big Mikey.
Check the members list and send them a PM.
I have been playing with toppers on my Circular Sock Machine but don't feel I have it perfected yet.
Does anyone know of anyone else?

I have been fortunate enough to meet Sydnie and Bob and enjoy their company. Unfortunately, I believe Sydnie no longer has time for creating hose toppers or her Flamingo Kilts. I own several pair of her hose toppers and they are definitely Top Shelf and I could definitely use a few more pair. I hope that there would be a few budding craftsmen filling a big gap.

We've been chatting with a local knitter who can make them... she's sorting out time / costings / designs / etc. What kind of price have others been charging for them retail?

I think I saw them for $40 once.

This is a sample of what my Original Hose Toppers are like. Haven't made any in quite a while but could probably still turn out a pair or two. I sold my version for $30/pair. Not done in a traditional knit style but effective none the less.
Have been informed that the link I posted opens up my PhotoBucket for all to see, nothing to hide but still want to preserve some privacy. If you'd like pics, contact me directly.

Big Mikey made a pair for me, and a matching set of garter ties. I'll post a picture as soon as I can.
EDIT: Here we are:

I got mine from Big Mikey but that was a few years ago and I don't know if he still does them but it would be an idea that you should contact him to find out.

Separate hose cuffs were a big thing in the Pipe Band world a few years back.
Around 1990 a certain type of hose became popular, universal, amongst Pipe Bands: pure gleaming white, plain body, bobble top/popcorn top cuffs.
You could see dozens of pipe bands at a contest and not see any wearing anything else.
Because the feet would wear out, and the expensive part was the popcorn cuffs, they started selling the cuffs as a separate thing which you could wear with inexpensive plain hose.
I still have a pair of those pure white popcorn cuffs. Once in a while I would wear them with blue hose, just for something different.
Here's those white Pipe Band popcorn cuffs, sold by Highlandxpress, in pure white and offwhite

and being worn by Oban High School

The ones you guys are talking about now are much nicer! It's a great idea.

I have made several pair for myself and am a registered hobbyist here. I would be more than happy to make a pair but I do have several projects already on my list. Price would depend upon what you are looking for. If you search my posts you will see an example of the very first pair I made for myself.
