Increase in threashold value for import duties
The rules on posting items to the USA have meant that items over 200 dollars in value have brought with them an unwelcome fee and import duties if using some carriers and sellers.
I have read of quite a few people who have bought kilts from Scotland falling foul of this levy.
I believe that this value has now been increased to 800 dollars, which - if true - will mean that buying from overseas will not be quite the lottery it once was.
Also that selling things to the US will be less fraught by delays and anxiety. I know that there is at least one person who has refused to sell to the US as her high end jerseys have been delayed by customs and PayPal has given her customers their money back before the garment was delivered - some customers never paid, others deducted the duty and fee from what was due.
Has anyone experience of the new rules?
I believe they came into force earlier this year.
