New Gear for my kilt

I am in the process of preparing to debut my new historic tailoring company at a local SciFi and gaming con (Crystal Coast Con - http://www.crystalcoastcon.com/). This new gear consist of a new kilt belt, sporran and sporran belt. Just to be clear these items are as per the thread title; new geat for MY kilt and are not here for resale.

I hope folks like them.

Thanks, in fact the idea for the secret braid on the sporran belt came from a fellow X-Marks-the Scot member. I wish that I could remember exactly which post I saw it on so that I could give him proper credit.

Well we went to the Con yesterday. It was a long tiring day but, I think that we made some good contacts. I also learned that I needed to make some adjustments to the new kilt belt and sporran belt. I made them too long. They fit at first but as the day went on they stretched and ended up way too big. I made the adjustments when we got home and before going to dinner. Here is a picture of the wife and I at the con.

And, yes, I did make all the clothes I am wearing here other than shoes and socks.

Thank you all for your encouragement and/or assistance of us trying to do it the hard way (DIY).

Looks good. What boots did you wear? Can just see the tops but they look the part.

Thanks, but I was not wearing boots. What you see are the tops of my 15" high side button gaiters made from a pattern I found in an 1898 edition of "The Cutters Practical Guide". The shoes I am hiding this way are all black leather New Balance walking shoes.

Hi Christoph,
First, the new gear looks great to me. Second, I love green. I have a sort of Rob Roy sporran in green leather. Third, I like the bonnet lots. I have been thinking of making a bonnet. Did you find some kind of pattern for it? Thanks.

The bonnet is a tam I made oh.... about hmmmmmm, about 20 years ago. I is quit simple two circles about the right size (one with a hole the size of my head) and an approximately two inch wide band, all wool. OH! don't forget the lining, mine is cotton sheeting, scraps from making a shirt. I also used one inch cotton furniture webbing to stiffen the band. Assemble working from the inside out, so as each layer fits over the one beneath. As I remember it took a couple of hours to make.

If you sew it is quite easy.
