Biking in a kilt

The only time I have ever worn the kilt while cycling was on the Tweed Ride, these rides go on the world over and are great fun. I was voted best dressed chap for both that I attended in my kilt.

I am unlikely to compete in best dressed chap anytime soon! Congrats.

I did not mention that using the kilt with the bike shorts allows me to remove the shorts and and continue with activities such as walking.

Although I wore bike shorts alone for many years and am not bashful, I think at my age others might appreciate me covering them with another garment.

Panache, I will be obtaining a tartan dew rag in the future.

I wear biking shorts underneath. I do have to remember remove the kilt pin as it bangs the top bar.

Maybe you should be mindful of who serves your cereal in the morning.

Having read the other postings I now get it but in upstate NY we word it " I don't know who p*ssed in your corn flakes"

Until recently I ran a bicycle clinic and a small rural town and would hop on a bike for a test ride or to run to the parts store for grease or tools, a 4yd box doesn't seem to have many issues if you sit on the pleats for a short distance.
I love the guards and may have to buy a couple pairs, one for my daughter who really likes her dresses and one for my Raleigh all arounder. Found it for 20.00 at a yard sale only 2 years old and unused, tossed a set of Chris king wheels on that cost 3x what the bike was new, a racing triple crank, 9sp cassette from 7sp, drop bars, sti levers and a rack. Those guards could round out keeping the kilt safe but I might start getting some funny looks from the wife. Some form of cycling short seems like a must. Would agree with whoever said these show the more utilitarian nature on the bike in Europe, worked in shops as a mechanic, though always did sales as well, and I've never heard the these till now. Closest I can recall is seeing old Raleigh 3sp Nottinghams with rear fenders that had solid sides to protect dresses but those were rare, old, and just a factory item. They were usually what forced me to get out the whitworth wrenches so I tended to just see them as nuisances.
