Being in the mood for Single Malt this evening, I opened the Whisky Cabinet and enjoyed several wee drams of Speyburn 10, Old Pulteney 12, and Ardbeg Airigh Nam Biest (2006). The Speyburn 10 is okay. Old Pulteney 12 is always pleasing. But, oh my brothers, this special Ardbeg is truly scrumptious!

That particular malt is unquestionably the best whisky ever to enter my face.
Felicitations on still having some lying about -- it is completely "unobtainium" now.

We just enjoyed a tasting last night of Bowmore 12, Ardbeg 10, and Glencoyne 12.
I'd had Ardbeg and have enjoyed it, but Glencoyne and Bowmore were new experiences for me.
Of the three, the Ardbeg is my favorite because it balances peat pretty well.
The Bowmore was extremely smokey and is the closest thing to smoked ribs I've ever tasted except for smoked ribs themselves.
The Glencoyne was a nice non-peated alternative to the other two. It has a nice smooth finish and an aftertaste that I was happy to let linger for a while.
Cheers!

Glencoyne?
Perhaps you mean Glengoyne.
Glengoyne is the nearest highland malt distillery to Glasgow, only just qualifies as a highland distillery, had it been situated a mile or two down the road it would have been in the lowlands. Some years ago I took part in the Glengoyne Hill Race, to the top of the adjacent hill, Dumgoyne and then back down to the distillery for a tour and a dram. Maybe we shall have an opportunity to visit the distillery when you come to Glasgow next year. https://www.glengoyne.com/

Ah, yes, it should be Glengoyne. Well, that's great. I didn't realize it was that close to Glasgow, so going there should be a must on next year's agenda.
A race that ends at a distillery sounds like my kind of race!

Currently, the Scotch cabinet has a serious vacancy....read, hollow cavern. The local market has a very low price on Speyburn 10 year. I've never tried it. Any tasting notes from the 'collective mind, of the great rabble'?

Just finished a couple of ounces of Ardbeg 10 (love my Islays) and now going to bed!
Simon Fraser fought as MacShimidh, a Highland chief… wrapped and belted in a plaid over the top of his linen shirt, like his ordinary kinsmen. He put a bonnet on his head, and stuck the Fraser emblem, a sprig of yew, in it. With the battle cry, A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh and the scream of the pipes, they charged to battle.
