help with a belt!
okay, i did look for this in the backlog and couldnt really find anything. anyway, can someone suggest a good place from which i can order a kilt belt? i'm looking for the thick belts(if there is any other kind?), a black one. does anyone know where i can get a good balance of quality and price? i'd also be looking for a nice buckle to go with it, or something that comes as a package. what would you all suggest for a good all-around buckle style? thanks very much guys. i'm gearing up for when i get my new kilt! next month!

I agree with bubba. Stillwater Kilts has cheaply priced kilt belts. They are real leather, wide, thick, and stiff. They come with a real cheap buckle but are a great choice for an inexpensive kilt belt. You can see a picture at their web site. They have some at their ebay store.
Here is what one looks like actually on a person.
I would get a better buckle, but I don't wear my tartans as much as my solid colors.

I'm VERY pleased with the plain wide belts from AmeriKilt. Does the job, looks great on non-traditional kilts.

They show black, if you need brown and its not listed yet just ask, they'll get it for you.

I got mine at scottishlion.com. They have a decent selection of both belts and buckles.

I'm not fond of big shiny belt buckles, so I opted for the Sam Browne belt used by LAPD officers. It's thick and sturdy, but it's also 2.25 inches wide, so I have to specify that when ordering kilts, otherwise it's too wide to feed through the belt loops!

I'm not a fan of shiny (chrome) ones either, but the antiqued finish ones usually aren't too bad.

Hey Seamus, Steve had a great idea. In a metro area like Chicago there should be a dozen police uniform supply shops. Lots of wide duty belts there.
Tried it out here in the boonies for a wide brown belt, but even the brown uniformed deputies chose to wear black duty belts...regardless of the regs, so the one uniform supply shop down in Flagstaff didn't stock brown ones...
Better luck in Chicago -
