Shannon, first of all... welcome. Secondly, I absolutely love the member name.

Now... Hamish and Matt will help you to decide on the best kilt for your specific wearing needs. After that, it's all up to you to find the kiltmaker that will serve your budget and needs. There's a great company locator on this site that will give you the opportunity to browse and a choose your top three candidates. The guys on this board are GREAT with recommendations on your choices. There's nothing like experience and hands-on ownership to give you an honest opinion.

You're in an enviable position in my mind. Here you're just starting-out, but (unlike me) you have the resources of XMarksTheScot to "educate" you in the available products.

Enjoy the search, and have fun "meeting" all the guys. It's a very smart and diverse group... all with the education to know the difference between kilts and the "other stuff".

    Shannon,

    WELCOME

You have found a great place to hang out. The information everyone has given so far is wonderful. I am always learning the ins and outs of proper kilt wearing, by just reading the posts.

The waiting for the first kilt to arrive is a very exciting time in your life, and I do hope that you will relate to us your feelings and joys of kilt wearing!

    Again welcome!

Welcome Shannon, thanks for reminding me to get of my butt and figure my taxes to see if there's any kilt money lurking there.

Great advice...unless you're into Faires reccomend something more compatible with daily wear...a leather kilt, or a bunch of contemporary or a traditional kilt. Up to you, weather where you live, etc. etc.

Don't forget to browse the archives for info on kiltmakers and pros and cons of various kilts.

Welcome to the forum Shannon. You've found the right place to get a good start on kilt wearing. Now the important thing is to take a deep breath and jump into it. Good luck, and let us know how we can help, this is one heck of a supportive community.

    Welcome Shannon.

I think you found a great place to get started in your kilted life. These guys are kind and offer great advice.

If you hang out a bit you'll really be broke! I don't even know how many kilts I own right now. I went on a binge and I have yet to add them all up.

    Take care.
