I just ordered kilt #6
It's a MacKay Ancient traditional from USAK. I finally broke down and ordered P-V. I've gotten used to wool, but I can't wear it to work in the machine shop. I can't wait.

Yeah,I just bought kilt #4 off of ebay. It's a solid black Stillwater (they don't make them any more) This is getting EXPENSIVE!

Congrats! Once #3 arrives, I'm gonna get a USA in my mother's family tartan. My Dad's side wears lederhosen, and that's something that even I won't wear.

I have to admit I don't know of any MacKay blood. I've already done my maternal grandfather's- MacInlay modern... I haven't yet found Davidson Ancient (maternal grandmother), or any of the others....Macbain, Cameron...I could go on. I'm one of the believers in know your tartan. Personally, I think the MacKay ancient has great colors, and is a bit lighter than any of the family tartans, other than the Macinlay ancient, which I have yet to see in person.
As far as my father's side... much like warbird, we're Germanic decent... more toward the Amish end, though, and I'm trying to get away from wearing all black, and those wide brim hats really don't work for me.

You just cannot go wrong with a Mackay Tartan. I have a USA Traditional in Mackay on order with Rocky and Kelly myself ... just make sure you spell Mackay with a small "K".
Mackay is one of those Scottish names where the "K" is actually intrusive and is silent. The correct pronunciation sort of sounds likes "Mac-Eye", not the more commonly pronounced "Mac-kay".

Davidson Anc in Wool? You should have asked while you were here! We have it in a swatch book! MacBain I don't think we have, but we can get many different Camerons... we have it in a heavy cotton twill right now!

My g-father was a McKee (his descendents left from Ulster) - but all the digging I did said that was MacKay (spelled like that). I have seen both MacKay and Mackay on several sites... are they the same? Most of the tartan seems to be indicated as MacKay........
I just found this site:
http://www.clanmackayusa.org/
so Mackay it is!
Thanks for bringing that up BMackay.....
