Hi everyone. Just another new guy.
I'm originally from Philly but now live in the S. Jersey area. It's great to see so many other wearers of the kilt in the area. The other day I saw a guy on Philly's famed South St. wearing a UK.
On Sunday I'll be attending two barbecues and will be wearing my AK for the first time amongst friends and family (other than my wife). I'll let you know how that goes. My wife's family is Ukranian and Italian so they may not get the whole kilt thing (What's that drunken Mick doing now? )

In my limited experience, the more recently a person immigrated (or the more connected they are with another culture), the more accepting they are of a kilt. Just a greater general respect for other cultures.

I agree totally! I think they fell that if you feel that strongly about your own culture, that you are more tolerant and understanding of other cultures.

I just noticed that you are in Sunderland, ON... I will more than likely be in Oshawa in a month or so for work.. We may just have to set up a Kilt night!!! Are there Kilt friendly pubs in the area??

Hi everyone.
My day in the kilt went just fine. There were a few comments but they were all good-natured. My sister-in-law was looking for her blue ribbon (we all know the song), and one of my friends seemed interested when I told him that there were kilts around for carpentry work (he is a carpenter by trade and has always had some Celt-envy). Only once did my wife remind me about how I was sitting
Now I'm just looking forward to getting another kilt.
