I need help!
I have just gotten my first kilt for christmas. I have always been fascinated with kilts, and I would now like to make my own. If any of you could help me, that would be great. Or you could just give me a link to a good site. Anything will help! I'm totally clueless to this!

WELCOME! Indeed you found a great source of information here on the board. You have already heard of Barb's book from Celticdragon press, I am sure some of the other member's here have some more sources. Good luck on your endeavor.

Hi, it depens on what you want to make. Do you want to hand-sew a traditional kilt? I'm doing that right now, you can see my thread on it. I'm 50 hours into it and probably got another 15-20 to go. IF you want to do that, then get Barb's book
On the other hand, I banged together a reasonably acceptable canvas kilt in 19 hours of grubbing around on the floor with the Singer. If you google "make a kilt" you will come across 3-4 web sites that give you the basic idea. If you follow those instructions you'll have an acceptable kilt for knocking around town in and lounging around the house. You probably won't wear it to the Opera, you know? But maybe that's OK...

Welcome. I will echo that there is a great deal of knowledge here. Also that you must be very brave to make the attempt.
