So like I saw in the picture, but a solid strap in the back and the whole thing in a custom length?
Keep in mind, if you have a set length, that any braid is going to give with use - as the braid tightens, as the leather stretches, and also if you lose weight - that's why my belt has the screws joining the two pieces in the back.

Don't those screw heads cause wear to your kilt? I really like the braid.

I hadn't thought about that. I haven't noticed any, but I usually have it over my belt. I suppose I could turn it over; the other side of the screw is smooth.

Strip of black duc tape no-one will notice. Fine looking belt well done

Maybe a patch of sticky backed felt over the screws?

Duct tape bad. Gaff tape good. Expensive, but so much better.

Lasts forever, can be peeled off, holds paint, comes in colors, etc.

It'll be simpler to just flip the screws over; they're in the back, and are the same color as the belt, so no-one's going to notice.

BTW, I think we just hi-jacked the thread.

It's a huge page but it has the instructions for a four strand braid on it.Six strands, justcontinue the same process. You could also start with a loop and finish with a turks head knot. I make necklace like this and I can see why it wouldn't work as a belt. It's not adjustable tho.
