No matter what you think - you will never look like Mel Gibson
So don't even think about trying...

Good point. Hopefully the edit is acceptable procedure.

Not sure, but that would make a good avatar wouldn't it?

This post is one of the biggest I have seen in the past 2 years I have been on the forum.
There have been a lot of fun pictures on here, but I have to issue a warning here. No Nudity. This is a family forum.
Part of the mystic of the kilt is the "what's under it" question. Let's try and not provide that answer here ok, guys.

I just noticed that picture of Sir Sean Connery...he's wearing a four in hand tie with the PC, I had heard this was a no-no, or did I hear wrong? Also the tie is in the same tartan that his kilt is and I've also always believed that this was wrong what gives? Matt?

The "rules" of ties as I've heard them...
A four-in-hand is fine with a PC.
A tie worn with the kilt should be one of these: solid color toning with the kilt, tartan of the same as the kilt but cut on the bias (i.e., 45 degrees "off" of the kilt's pattern), tartan of the wife's clan (also on the bias), a school tie (stripes), or solid black or grey depending on the color of the jacket or waistcoat.
Striped ties that are NOT school colors should be avoided.
If one is going to wear a tie of the same tartan as the kilt, best to get it from the same mill - otherwise, the colors don't quite match, and it looks odd. It's also painfully weird if the sett is of a similar pattern but different size.
