Kilted at the mall...
Well, yesterday I took my kilt out for a stroll. I went to a restaurant, and the mall. Both first's for me. (I've only been to friend’s house, and church kilted before) At the restaurant a lady came up to me and complimented my kiltedness. And at the mall there were no comments or even weird looks. I've got a couple pics of myself in my kilt that I'm going to post, as soon as I get my camera back. (I left it at my parent’s house) But it was a great outing, and even though it was about 90 degrees I was not hot or uncomfortable! It was great!

The first major outing is always a good time. My first time out I did get some strange looks and I got a good laugh watching people trying to get their heads around what they were seeing.

The first few times I went to the mall, my daughter liked to tag along about 10 feet away so she could watch the reactions. People are funny... most seem to try hard not to show any interest. But for a few, the sideways and over the shoulder glances are too hard to resist.
I don't wear the kilt as much as I did, but it's still fun to mall crawl or Wal*Mart. It's clientele are typically such an eclectic bunch, that the kilt gets little reaction at all.

I love wearing my kilt at our local Wal-Mart, more than once someone was so shocked that they walked right into a dispaly knocking it over. Our Wal-Mart does not hae an eclectic clientele, cowboys and airforce personell are the majority of who one finds there.

That first plunge out into the rest of the world is always a bit nerve-wracking, eh? Glad it went well.
