I'd love to see a pic of your maple leaf. I can't decide between Ontario Provincial or Maple Leaf for my first tartan. Currently I only have SWK Shadow black.

Grant, just to jump the gun (as is my habit!!), here is a photo of my 'Maple Leaf' 8 yarder in 16oz weight. It was tailored for me by Geoffrey (Tailor) in Edinburgh, and I love it - the colours are just a superb representation of the Canadian Maple trees in the autumn (sorry, Fall).

Thank you Hamish. That really is a gorgeous tartan. So many samples I've seen online have shown a rather electric pinkish-red. I checked out the government website and found the official description:
The colours of the maple leaf through the changing seasons became the basis for the tartan designed by David Weiser in 1964. Known officially as the Maple leaf tartan, the pattern incorporates the green of the leaves' summer foliage, the gold which appears in early autumn, the red which appears with the coming of the first frost, and the brown tones of the fallen leaves.
From your picture I can actually see that.
