Yes the US doesn't seem to go in for vinegar does it?

I remember asking for it at my Philly hotel and the best they could produce was wine vinegar.

It's just difficult to find malt vinegar in a restaurant in many parts of the US (also depending on the type of restaurant). A fish joint in the northeast is much more likely to have it than a burger joint in West Virginia (or to my experience Alabama, or Missouri, or Kentucky, or... well, you get the idea).

Ditto with mayonaise on your fries - common in some parts, but not in others.

I knew I was back in the northeast about 20 years ago when I could find salt and vinegar chips (crisps) in the store - although those are now common in this part of the country, too.

I can't say I have had much problems finding malt vinegar in Canada. Of course I only want it with certain foods, so it is usually available with those foods.

You know your in Canada when you can get a zamboni for your lawn tractor (or that your lawn is actually an ice rink long enough to own a zamboni).
I like Canada, Ketchup flavored "crisps", and all the good chocolate. You can't get "the good stuff" here in the states. It's funny when a canuk is an american chocolate virgin, they make some funny faces, then say "how can you eat this stuff"! One other thing I have noticed, How come all the "lame Canuks" live in the states? Kilt on frozen brothers!!

You know you're in Canada when someone tells you:

"Keep your stick on the ice"
In theory there is no difference between theory and practice but in practice there is.
