Harpenden (United Kingdom) Highland Gathering
This is for our United Kingdom members:
Details have now been released of the Harpenden Highland Gathering 2007 which takes place on Sunday July 8th.
It looks to be a great day out with the added attraction this year of a re-enactment display by The 42nd Highland Regiment of Foot (1815) - The Black Watch in addition to the traditional Pipe Bands, heavy events, solo piping and dancing competitions, etc., etc.
Details of the day's events together with half-price entry by on-line purchases of the Programme are available via the website: http://www.harpenden-lions.co.uk/highland-gathering.php
A group of X Markers met there last year and enjoyed a really good time, so let's see if we cannot make it an even bigger group THIS year. Several of us have already made arrangements to be present so PLEASE COME AND JOIN US ........ you know you want to!

This is luikin' guid. Already we appear to be numbering about 15 - but, we CAN do better than that, so what about all those of you in the Greater London area? If Alex and Alan are prepared to travel down from the northern wastes and David driving up from Greater Southampton, surely you can manage an hours drive! Come on now; it is going to be a fantastic day.
In a Skype conversation earlier today, David Freelander informed me that he might be bringing even more folks - half of southern Hampshire by all accounts (!). And David, I do hope you will be able to persuade Dame Bella Goatcabin to come along; she and I spent many a happy hour together in the good old days - when we were both so much younger and more agile - and I have not seen her in years. It will be a real joy to catch her (sorry, catch UP with her) again.
Nearer the time, a meet-up point within Rothamsted Park will be announced so that we X Markers do not spend all day looking for each other in the crowd. It worked well last year and, if form follows form, it should do so this.

Well Hamish when I told her you would be there She just leapt at the chance. Her Bathchair went all of a quiver.
She told he with tears in her eye about the happy times together with you......She did wonder if you still have that bottle of Stangast and Boyles Patented Horse linament and paint stripper. And hope that the rash and the swelling have now got better....
Ps.
Don't forget to bring the Metal polish for the warthog... You know he gets a bit uppity without it.
