I'd have to agree, a big ole group going country line dancing would be rather unexpected there, especially if it were at some small town hall.

After watching the opening, I nominate the chamber of the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh...

heard it go the other way round. The guys from the Mudmen were telling me about how weird it was, out west, when a line formed and they started line dancing to their music.

well you could imagine that Tucson is a "country " town...there's LOTS O country bars here abouts I have gone to the two major's and was met with alot of *** looks from guys ( with some comments thrown in ) and alot of attention from the ladies......the comments from the guys stopped after their Girlfriends all wanted to talk to me  one guy even echoed my usual saying of " if you got brass ones to wear it in here...you got enough brass ones to back it up so I aint gonna mess with ya!"
that and the Bashful bandit....a hardcore biker bar....they dont even allow cars to park in the lot... I went in there, and the owner/bartender just said " nice Kilt! "
KFP

Confirmed, at least according to the Clan McBean Society. My wife is a Bayne, and she signed the family up in the McBean's not too long ago.
EDIT: I posted before I saw someone else posted the answer even more definitively
I've worn my kilts skiing, snowboarding, swimming, and sailing. I've worn it to country bars and rodeo's. Really, if I've gone anywhere or done anything in the last three years I've done it kilted.

Long story... let just say I fell and fractured my femur neck, and was
taken to the trauma room at Mt. Sinai in Miami, had the kilt on for all the x-ray and stuff though.

Too bad you folks are looking for this place in the Great North. I think a Kilt Night
gathering at The Varsity in A town would be a good place to start a pub crawl. (get something on the stomach before hitting the pubs - and a place where you don't expect to find a group in kilts)

The Varsity! Last time I was in Atlanta I couldn't make it there and I was highly disappointed. I agree, not the place I'd expect to see the rabble.
