    Kilt and tuxes at wedding

My fiance and I - and a few other people on her end of the computer - were discussing male dress for our wedding. The original plan was for me to wear my dress blue uniform and everyone else to wear a tux. Between the ceremony and reception I would change into my kilt. Yesterday they decided I wouldn't have time to change with pictures and everything. So it became me in a kilt and everyone else in tuxes. I think that would look strange. To me, everyone should have the same style of clothing. She is concerned that the other guys will be uncomfortable wearing kilts. What do you all think?
I'm a well rounded guy - English motorcycles, Irish brew, and Scottish clothes and music.

It is usual for the bridegroom to de distinctively dressed so to stand out from the rest of the crowd. Wear your kilt (and a fly plaid if you have one) the others can decide for themselves what to wear.

I think if you get the guys into kilts you will have difficulty getting the lads out of them.

I was the only one at my wedding in a kilt. My groomsmen wore suits. I thought it looked fine.

I say get them in the kilt. The first time I wore a kilt was for my brother's wedding, I think it would have looked odd if he had been the only one. The other thing was that I was thinking all day, this is so comfortable, why haven't I done it before.
Here is a picture of us all, I can't imagine how wierd it would look if he was the only one in a Prince Charlie and kilt.

At our wedding, only myself, the best man and the piper wore kilts in the service. My two ushers wore "mufti" -- one had just returned from active duty with the Navy, so he wore his dress blues, and the other is a long-time friend of mine from Civil War reenacting who has Psoriasis. While he's very interested in all things Scottish, I would never dream of asking him to wear a garment that might cause attention on his condition -- something to consider before saying everyone should be in a kilt.

And I don't think our wedding photos look "odd" because not everyone was in Highland attire. As someone else said, it's your wedding.

It won't look strange at all. You were going to wear your dress blues at first anyways, so you were already going to stand out in the crowd.

My first wedding, me and the best man had kilts on, the second was me in my navy whites.

It's you and your brides day. You are suppose to be the centre of attention. Do what's good for you!!

Have you asked the other guys about wearing kilts? They may love it and the attention!
