I have a poly/viscose kilt in which I've backpacked 5,000 miles. 'Nuff said.
Seriously, what everyone's said already is true: it's lighter than wool. But that's okay, because it still makes a great kilt, and holds its pleats nicely. I've worn my hiking kilt for three weeks straight without washing it, fording waist-deep rivers, sitting on the ground all the time (because I was living in the woods for five months at a time), and people were seriously asking me if I was hiding an iron in my backpack because the pleats looked sharp. They weren't sewn in, they just didn't go away. I have two P/V kilts, and I plan on getting another one as soon as I have enough money.
Andrew.
