    Looking for a sporran

I am looking for an everyday sporran. Interested in a simple design in brown leather. How come all the simple designs seem to be in black? Can't find anything in brown that isn't too expensive or ornate.

    Any ideas?

    BUZZ KIDDER SPORRANS

They are available through USA Kilts, Stillwater Kilts, and the Scottish Tartans Museum gift shop. Buzz Kidder sporrans are large, well made, with thick yet supple leather, and a classic simple look at a reasonable price (under $60). Most models come in black and brown. My BK "Loch Ness" model is my second favorite sporran.

Of course if you want the best in simple daywear sporrans there is always Freelander Sporrans (my favorite sporran)

    Cheers

    Jamie

For an everyday day wear sporran that will hold everything you need to take with you and more I would say take a look at Freelander Sporrans I have one and it is the sporran I wear everyday. It is a bit more than the Buzz Kidder, however it does hold a lot of stuff. You could also look into Torrfinn Sporrans. Both the Freelander and the Thorfinn sporrans are Rob Roy style, they are soft and thus fit more than the stiff sporrans out there.

We have the aformentioned Buzz Kidder sporrans available here:

I can attest to the fact that they are very good qulaity for the price point they are sold at.

If you want something a bit different, pretty much any of the designs shown here in black can be made in brown for you. Ya's just gotsta ask! :-)

If you want a standard simple design you can get a military day sprorran from What Price Glory There isn't a picture of it specifically, but it is the one being worn here:

It's not as fancy as as many of the ones sold but It's only $25 and it comes with the strap.

I own 2 buzz kidder sporans (the 'rob roy' and the drawstring pouch style one) The pouch one holds a TON of stuff, but i wouldnt recommend it if you've got a bulky heavy thing like a larger camera, because the way it's made, the camera could fall out if you open it fast and arent ready for it to potentially pull open on you.

I think both are supposedly available in brown, though mine are both in black, because black just goes better with the other stuff i wear.

I'm going to put in a word for my favourite, R-Kilts. Mine is a nice brown, braided belt and roomy. Quality is excellent, and he's a good guy.

Jerry (I think that's his name) is pretty decent to deal with but he can be curt at times. A couple of things to keep in mind if you deal with him: first is don't call if you need it the next day. It usually takes him a few days to get things out the door and he tells you that up front. Second, don't ask him he has something that isn't listed. This seems to upset him. According to him, if it isn't listed, he doesn't have it. If it is listed, he has it...unless he tells you otherwise.
