Thanks! The X-Kilt project was something I took on for fun while I was between jobs during the summer of 2006. I never thought that 60 of them would get made! I still give the manual away because, well....it's my way of "giving back", sort of. In a way the X-Kilt has become a community thing. There are now several people who've made as many, or more X-Kilts as I have, and of course the F-H.C.A.G. has documented her X-Kilts to the n'th degree with photographs, bless her! So the way I see it, the X-Kilt kind of belongs to "us"....to XMarkstheScot, and to all kilties brave enough to put in some time to see what this "making a kilt" thing is all about.

The whole battle-cry of the X-Kilt is: IF I CAN DO IT, YOU CAN DO IT!......and I truly believe that. I'm not so good with a sewing machine, I'm really not. It's just that when it comes to twenty bucks of cheap cloth and the kitchen table, I have no fear!...and neither should anybody else.

I kind of like that it's still an MS Word file on my PC, and that the pics will be contributed by people I consider to be good friends, as well as my newly-purchased digital camera!

Add another to the tally. I just finished my first Xkilt in green canvas and my second is started. It was actually a search for a contemporary pattern that brought me to this wonderful site a few months ago. The talent and knowledge of the forum members and their generous sharing of said knowledge is what has kept me coming back. So I find it only fitting that my first post be a thank you to Alan for a wonderful set of instructions.

I have one mde of carhart fabric, that someone made for me and asked to remain nameless. I used the X-kilt instructions and artistic license and some pure "lets try this" to male a wool box pleat kilt (can be seen here [link]http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30725[link] ) I also have a cheerleeder type (Black with red under pleats) that I finished and destroyed to rebuild( I didn't like how I joined the 2 colors (I am using a serger for the re-build)). Allen, you decide if the green one counts.

Including Teej and Navyguy...and you bet the wool "improv" kilt counts, that's 58 X-Kilts made and I KNOW of at least 2-3 more that have been done, but I just can't get the handles.... TH, I had you down for 6, actually.

					Two and 3/4 so far:
One in green canvas (wide apron, with buckles & hand-made leather straps) for my 3 y.o. son.

One in the same fabric for myself - wide apron again, but velcro on the left side and nylon webbing/side release clip on the right. This one is prtially deconstructed at the moment, in order to fix a couple of errors.

One in Black Watch PV (configured as above and pleated to sett), which is almost complete. It was going to be for me, but instead is going to my inactive USMC mate, and has to be ready for my 40th on November 3rd. What with all the house repairs I still have to complete, it looks like I'm going to be busy!

 Regards,

 Troy

I don't really need to chime in here, as all mine are well documented, but I will anyway, just for completeness' sake. Three: Corduroy, Cheerleader, and Pink..err..Maroon Panache. Two more in the works, well, not quite, as they will be X-Skirts, rather than X-Kilts, but still.
I just want to add my thanks to all those before for Alan's contribution to the kilting world in the form of the X-Kilt manual.

 Three cheers to Alan!
