    My coat's left over right.
    The picture is reversed.

    Whew! Thanks Gregory.

Did you have to sew on the buttons or did they come attached already?

    Thanks

    Thanks Chris...

I just ordered a British and a Sweedish...

Only question I'm wondering about that they guy on the order desk couldn't answer is does the British greatcoat really go right over left or is the picture reversed.

Guess I'll be bleeding sewing on buttons soon.

The British with buttons on the side to be sewn on.

The Sweedish, which is said to be new. $30

Guess if they're no good I can toss them in the car for emergency warmth in case of getting stuck in the snow...

    Ron
Very nice but they won't ship to Canada .

Ron, my new(old) one can be buttoned either way, which suprised me because there's really only one way to button a man's coat. Maybe if the front got dirty in the feild it could be reversed for a quick dress up when a cleaner wasn't avaliable.

Here it is, just got pictures! Sorry no kilt, when my tank is over here I'll post how it looks with it.

It's in very good condition for its age, only a couple problems. Some of the stitching under the collar is coming undone and the inner fastening button came off last night, both easliy repaired. I'll be getting some matching thread tomorrow. There's no tags inside, but whoever owned this was a Lt. Col. (I took the rank insignia off), and served in Egypt:

It buttons all the way up and the collar fastens for when it's really cold!

It fits me well, something I was worried about. There's not a lot of room around the middle, but it's not tight, and that is something I'm working on. I've lost quite a bit of weight since I got here, and I walk everywhere.

I'm glad I held out and waited until one of these in my size came up on eBay. The 1950s style is nice, too, but the details on this jacket are phenomenal. The 40s cut and style is great (notice the big shoulders!) and I'm a fan of those turnback cuffs.

I'm very happy with this coat, it'll definitly keep me warm during the cold months, and when I go home it's getting shipped ahead of me.

    Cheers,
    Nick

Wow! That is a beauty Nick.

Thanks for the great pictures. I may need to refer to them if I do have sew the buttons on the one I'm getting.

I just picked up a peacot, and I tried it on with a kilt, and I think it looks pretty darn OK... the only problem is the lump created by the sporran, and the fact that about 1" of the sporran peeks out the bottom. I'll have to experiment with sporran placement...

    Hey Crusty,

If your pea coat has pockets in it lose the sporran and put your stuff in the pockets of the pea coat. Kilts are much more comfy without a sporran.

Nice, I wear my CW infantry greatcoat. When did you get the coat from GI?
During the early 90's a lot of his greatcoats were my by a friend of mine by the name of Sutherland. He was my mentor on all things Scottish years ago. It would be cool if he made that one. I also use a huge 19thC charcoal gray travelling cloak that I stole from my wife. A few mods turned it into a 18thC mens cloak. I've got to get my camera fired up soon and I'll post pics if I can figure it out.
