Y'all make me really glad that in my days as a Christian minister, I was protestant. (Pentecostal if you want to get picky and specific about it.) I didn't have a dress code. Of course, now as a pagan, for me the thing to wear to perform a wedding would be a ritual robe. Or nothing, as some pagan handfastings are performed skyclad. But I think if it's a ceremony with spectators, a robe is the way to go. Color choice up to the bride, of course.

I am officiating a Pagan/Jewish handfasting/wedding in December and have been specifically asked to wear the kilt. The groom's son will be there, and sky-clad is right out on that account. I figured I would just get a Frugal Corner Clergy, though I need to call the couple and see exactly what they had in mind... I belive that the (Jewish) groom had wanted me to have a head-covering of some sort too.

I was recently licensed to the ministry, though I have worked in ministry for nearly 10 years now. I just officiated my first wedding and will be doing another in January, both kilted and both in my Cian kilt because they were family members (and the USAK Clergy/Clark I have doesn't fit me that well). I will officiate another wedding in May and will more than likely not be kilted because the people I am officiating for have not asked me to be kilted and are not of Celtic/Gaelic descent... Personally I consider this part of my ministry to my friends and family and will wear whatever they would like. As for the actual tartan, I'll wear my best looking kilt if I do it kilted, and right now it's my Newsome 5-yarder in Cian.

Orthodoxy has no standard official 'Color scheme' it's a Roman custom.
Blue is often worn in Catholic Spain for Virgin Mary feasts.
Interestingly, it is normal for Marian feasts for clergy to wear blue...no surprise, I guess!

For my wedding the pastor wore his family Kilt but if not your family or the Clergy then I'd recommend just matching the Grooms kilt or at least wedding colors. Remember this is their day not your fashion show. If the Bride and groom were doing standard type wedding I would not expect they'd want the pastor to wear one. If the goom is not it is safest for you to not. If the groom is ask if your Kilt is ok or if you need to rent one in the wedding colors or rent one to match the groom

As the season of Advent winds down, I thought I'd share this info which I just found in the Wiki entry on it, and which was the subject of some discussion last month in this thread:
"A darker purple (sometimes called 'Royal Purple') is used whereas in Lent the color is often a reddish purple ('Roman Purple'). This shade is used around the church, on the priest's vestments and usually the Tabernacle. On the 3rd Sunday of Advent, Gaudete Sunday, a rose is used since this Sunday takes on a more joyous tone. In some Anglican and Lutheran churches, blue is the liturgical colour for Advent, a custom traced to the medieval Sarum Rite. This color is often referred to 'Sarum blue.' "
Merry Christmas to all!

Well, in my church, we wear purple vestments (well, I wear a cassock - readers don't get to wear sticharions [stichari? sticharia?]) during the Nativity Lent (Advent to you westerners), and the priests wear red during the festal period, and white for the period of Theophany.
