America's Ballroom Challenge
About 19 minutes into the PBS broadcast of the "American Rhythm" category ballroom dance competition, "America's Ballroom Challenge" (The Ohio Star Ball), the camera pans up on the front row of spectators from about knee level.* The subject is a kilted gentleman in full formal array. The competition is held in Columbus, Ohio but I'm not sure when it was recorded, probably mid-November, 2007.

Rex.

I saw him, too! They showed him a few times during the show, but the first time especially showed the kilt.

To be honest, I still can't discern one kind of a jacket from another (or at least put a name to them), and it went by so fast on the screen that all my brain was able to register was "kilt" and "formal," but in my mind's eye, I sort of recall seeing not a doublet, but an open jacket with flaps at the hips. I could be totally wrong about that. The gentleman was seated and my TV reception is not so good, so I didn't get the full picture here. If it is rebroadcast tonight, I'll try to get a closer look.

Kilted at the Ball
I saw the same show. Great Dancing! The gentleman in his
formal kilt was also wearing a sash from the right shoulder
down to his left hip. Couldn't see much, coat was buttoned
closed. I did see a green-ish hue to the coat. The camera
panned by to quickly. BTW, I saw this show at 5 AM this
morning on PBS. I'm now just getting around to the forums.
No energy. Just getting over that blasted stomach virus/flu
bug--wretched thing! Not the best way, but I've lost 8 lbs
in 3 days. I wouldn't wish this 'thing' on my worst enemy!
KEEP WELL EVERYONE!
