Argyle Waistcoat
I'm thinking of ordering an Argyle Waistcoat, but all the sites I've visited don't have any sizing on them. Are they one size fits all or how do they work? Thanks.

Check out Rocky at USAKilts, custom made (in Scotland) but you'll have a wait. Tweed front, satin back but all tweed might be availiable. They are, most definately, not one-size-fit-most.

Waistcoat Without The Jacket?

I just noticed that myself.
Okay, I kinda like the look of the vest WITHOUT the jacket. Is it inappropriate to just wear the vest? I've seen many pipe bands play that way.

I recall there being a thread about that last year. I forget the consensus but believe it was roughly split 50/50. If that's the look you want go for it, I'll do the same. I also recall that when wearing waistcoat alone that one goes with full wool/tweed and not satin back. This is what I forgot to do when I ordered from Rocky and wish I had've done.

J. Higgins makes its wool waistcoats, with wool front and back, in U.S. suit sizes. I've worn it without a jacket.
Best regards,

We sell our Argyle vests separately. They are sized by standard jacket size (i.e. I wear a 44L).

We can have them made from most any of our woolen cloths, including tweed and tartan.

Be sure you know what the shop means by their measurements and check twice, or three times, then call just to make sure. Returns can be a hassle....

It depends on what your doing. If your wearing a full vest (not satin back) it can be a nice "smart casual" look. If your idea is to use it instead of a jacket, it wouldn't be an appropriate substitution in many cases.
