    SWK's thrifty kilts- opinions?

Now, naturally, I'm aware that an SWK thrifty is never going to be something that you wear to dinner, and probably not something you're going to wear out much at all. But my blood is pretty Scottish in every sense, and a thirty dollar kilt is catching my eye, considering that I need to start building a decent supply of casual kilts that I can beat up in the ring and not worry too much about.

Is it worth 30 bucks to have a spare kilt or two for wrestling in, and nothing more?

I am, for my next serious day-to-day casual. I'll probably go with the Semi-Trad, once I have enough money to throw at it. But if the SWK thrifty meets my in-ring standards, then I could probably afford to snag a couple of those in the meantime.

Oops, that opinion may have had too many exclamation marks in it, sorry.

Put differently, the Vel cro closure might be one thing to keep in mind while wrestling. However, metal buckles might cause problems too. I just saw in my mind someone pulling your kilt off and popping you with it like a towel... That would be funny.

I bought one in Irish National for St. Patrick's Day figuring if someone spilled beer on me, or worse, I wouldn't care. With a belt and sporran, no one knew I was wearing a cheapie. The pleats are a bit shallow and not sewn down to the fell, but all in all a good value for the money.

I have an economy and it's a great "knocking around" kilt. I'd wear it to dinner, just not to a very nice restaurant.

I don't own any of their thrifty kilts but I would think for what you want to use it for it would be fine, Just remember that they use Velcro and not a strap and buckle.

For the ring @ $30.00 I say go for it, as you said in an earlier thread you never go regimental in the ring so I really don't see a problem with the velcro.

The Thriftys are very nice, for what they are and the niche they fill. I have gotten one and was not disappointed.
