    Scratch my last post.

I'm going as a sheep this year, and taking my new Border Collie with me. He has a tartan vest. Go figure.

    Cheers,

    Kevin.

I had a whole new thought on the costume question tonight. I personally am a Wiccan/neo Druid minister. Halloween (Samhain) is a religious holiday for me. One of the origins of the custom of wearing a costume for Samhain comes from the ancient pagan faiths. So on that side of things, it's a religious issue. On the day we celebrate our ancestors, it is customary to dress as they did. So for me, the kilt does in fact become part of a costume- the customary dress (albeit stylized and tainted with my modern perception) of my ancestors. So there is that angle to consider when looking at the kilt as a costume issue.

I do like the thought of making the kilt a costume "for one night only" plus i could use that as a cover for my first attempt at a kilted outing

Just remeber the other side of that coin. When people you know see you after Halloween, they are going to ask why you're still wearing a Halloween costume. I would suggest that if you want to wear a kilt you just do it and not look to Halloween as a cover.

That doesnt really bother me as most people who know me know im not one for dressing up and making a fool of myself, so they will see me in a kilt and wonder why

Just wear what you want to wear on Halloween. It is a day of celebration, fun and party. There is no point in defending the clothing of choice. Kilt is a piece of clothing that can be worn as a costume, daily wear or formal wear. Enjoy it in every way you want.

I have worn my utilikilt as a costume, and so what?

To me, Every day is Halloween.

I think I will plant garlic for halloween... So I might be wearing overalls and a straw hat... So no kilt here.

I could, though, put a belted plaid on the scarecrow...
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…
