    Kilted in Jail...and more today

So today's a big day. Big agency meeting this afternoon, then donating blood (will by my 78th pint), then the agency's holiday party at a local saloon.

Decided to wear my Antarctica tartan kilt and tie (sorry Ham), white dress shirt, grey argyll, navy kilt hose with red/orange traditional garter ties.

Lots of ooohs and aaahs from lady coworkers this morning. Then the phone rings and its the local deputy sheriff. One of my clients relapsed, got drunk and roudy last night and was arrested and jailed. Client wants me to come down and talk - after past arrests the client is looking at six months jail time and not happy...particularly since they were in a blackout and don't remember what they did to get in jail.

So drove over. No problem at all with the detention officers. Let me into the bowels of the jail and to a private room (save security camera) to talk with the client. Was there about an hour. Never a comment from client, detention staff, or other inmates. Just me kilted.

I've been "to" jail kilted before, but this is the first time they let me "in" to the jail kilted to do my work.

Gonna be dark by the time I come up for air....if they take any at the meeting will see if I can get one.

We're doing a "gong show" deal...my act is playing my chanter and sharpening my sgian dubh at the same time....winner of this deal is the fasted gong.

Make absolutely sure you don't get the two confused.

    I Won!!

Great news - I won the reverse gong show! Was the multi-tasking Scotsman. Played the chanter with one hand and sharpened my sgian dubh in the other in a small big box type electric knife sharpener.

Also got a lot of yahooing women going when I bent over to remove the plug safety cover, and again to plug in the sharpener, and again to unplug it, and again to replace the safety cover, and again to check that the safety cover was secure and aligned properly.

Prize was one of those electric chair massage pads that fit in a chair, and a Snicker's bar, and a day off with pay!!

Lots of compliments on the Antarctic tartan kilt...many who'd seen it before didn't remember it...maybe being up front...or bending over...

Then over to the hospital to donate a pint of blood. More compliments...one of the hospital volunteers checking in donors asked, "Is that the Macdonald tartan?" A good guess. Explained what it was. Turns out her brother is headed for a scientific stay in Antarctica next year so gave her the website addy for the Antarctic Heritage Trust.

Then to the saloon for the agency holiday party. More compliments on the kilt. Managed to get a couple pics taken by our psych nurse practitioner but not sure how they came out. What he showed me on the back of the camera was just my belly...but he was enlarging at the time.

Lucked out at the holiday party and won a raffle prize. A bunch of mens cologne, body wash, etc. Haven't sniffed it out yet. If its weird can always donate it to detox.

So a long but fun day. If the pics come out will post them later.

WAY COOL, Ron! That's 234 lives saved or bettered. One of the many places I have done quality consulting is the American Red Cross Biomedical Division (the blood folks). Each unit of blood is typically broken down into components and helps 3 people on the average. I used to give every 8 weeks, but I can't anymore because of meds I am on for my heart. That's 9 GALLONS of blood. I'm impressed.
