The Sisters of St. Joseph sounded familiar when I read that... I wonder if they are affiliated with the Sisters of St. Joseph of Medaille. (I'm not Catholic so I know precious little about this sort of thing).

One of their most famous members is Sister Helen Prejean (well-known consistent life ethicist and capital punishment abolishonist) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helen_Prejean. She's most famous for having written the book that the movie Dead Man Walking was based on.
