Show-N-Tell: New Diced Hose & Old Day Plaid

OK! Here are my new black-and-red diced hose from Skye Highland Outfitters. They fit perfectly and they are just the right thickness to indicate quality and warmth, without being too thick. Worth every penny!

My day plaid I bought from the widow of Edgar MacIntyre, the Drum Major who posed for the Dewar's scotch ads many, many years ago. He was both a drummer and a piper, btw, and a friend of my former pipe instructor. Anyway, yes, I know my plaid weight should be the same as my kilt (which it isn't), but I got what I could get at a good deal! That's trad enough for me!

Many thanks to Ms. Zardoz for snapping the pic and sending it to me.

AND, the green garters are from STM!!!

Sounds neat. Actually, from what I have come to understand, having a plaid that is older and not the exact match to the kilt is traditional, and maybe even preferable.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

wouldn't have been able to tell at a glance that the plaid was a different weight, if you hadn't mentioned it. And I'm pretty sure Jock Scot will chime in and tell you that it's nothing to worry about ;)

Looks great, and that sporran looks interesting...

I love the diced hose, great look there, and the day plaid makes a nice change, though I'm not sure about the Black Barathea Argyll with silver buttons.

Thanks. The sporran is an unbraided Rob Roy from Craigies. I also have a similar, braided one in tobacco brown. The kilt is one of my first two that was made by CCC and to which I referred in another thread.

The argyll I got from TartanWeb (under different ownership) several years ago. I finally ordered another argyll and waistcoat in Harris wool from STM.

By Harris Wool do you mean Harris Tweed? If so I must congratulate on you a great buy. I also look forward to seeing photos of it when you get it. I absolutely love my Harris Tweed Argyll.

Harris wool is used to make the Harris tweed, which will be used to make the argyll - so, yes!
