Don't forget a sporran! A sporran completes the look; without it you look like a man in a tartan skirt. Just my opinion.

Ditto on the sporran. I wear mine even if I go clubbing. If it gets in the way, you can always swing it around the side.

I'd say that the outfit looks great--though I have no problem dancing with a sporran, even prefer it. I like the way the shirt and hose complement the kilt.
But are the shoes really in ogre?

Reason: adding support for a sporran-for support ;-)

What he said!!
My son-in-law wears a kilt without a sporran on occasion and thinking I have some influence on him (because I wear a kilt), a number of people...mostly women...have commented to me that he borders on immodesty.
A kilt is not a kilt without the sporran.

You look great. You have a vest on you don't need a sporran to carry Keys or money. Know how you feel about the not having the money. Go with what you have and have fun.

The outfit looks good but I agree that a sporran would improve the look
For $55-60 a Buzz Kidder sporran is an excellent value and will last you for years.
If that is too much then just get one of Jerry's basic sporrans like this one

For $15 bucks you can't beat the price (though you should get a leather strap for it instead of the chain one it comes with) .

I like the look. I agree on the sporran. In my mind, it completes the look.

Consider a black sweater vest to get rid of the shiny vest. The satin vest is just too formal of a garment to look right dressed down to shirt sleeves. Either that or you have to get some nickel accessories to make the rest of the outfit look as formal as the vest does. Nickel kilt pin, semi-formal sporran (easy way to bring some bling into an outfit), nickel pocket watch chain slung across front of vest, nickel cuff links,... or something. I know funds and time are tight.
Oh, and to tie the top and bottom half of the outfit together, maybe some maroon flashes or some black satin flashes (just get some black satin ribbon from walmart and tie them around the leg.
